My Kitchen's Best Burger

Last night's [veggie] burgers were a success! And we are having them again for dinner tonight. I'll have to come up with a name for them but for now we'll just call them darn good. If you are looking for a light dish to cook for the family tonight, impress them with this burger and a spritzer.

Grocery list:

  • Black beans
  • Chickpeas
  • Cilantro
  • Parsley
  • Watercress
  • Jalapeño
  • Sesame seeds
  • Sesame seed oil
  • Cumin
  • Chili powder
  • Sunflower seeds
  • Ground flax seed
  • Rolled oats
  • Carrots
  • Baby sprouts or Arugula
I used about a cup of each bean, a handful of cilantro, parsley, and watercress, chopped 1 jalapeño(with seeds), a cup of sunflower seeds, processed a cup of rolled oats, a cup or two of diced carrots, and peppered the mixture with sesame seeds, cumin, and chili powder. Add sesame seed oil to taste (less is more). Also, if you would rather use egg, go for it. But I used ground flax seed added to a cup of warm water as an egg replacement. The rolled oats turn into a flour once you process them, which also helps hold the burgers together. Once every thing is mixed and mashed into a perfect consistency, make your patties and cook them in a skillet. You can garden the burgers with baby sprouts or arugula, too.
